Sennen, Cornwall – ANPR Solution

Problem

Situated in close proximity to the renowned Sennen Cove Beach, a beloved destination for tourists exploring the region, the Sennen top car park has unfortunately become a frequent target of misuse by vehicles. Many drivers have been disregarding the designated pay and display regulations, opting to park without payment, much to the dismay of the landowner. This persistent issue has led to mounting frustration for those responsible for overseeing the parking facilities.

Solution

To enhance enforcement efficiency, Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR) technology was implemented at this location. With only one entry/exit point in the car park, the camera operates in both directions, effectively recording vehicle registration numbers (VRNs) as they enter and exit the premises. Those who flout the site regulations by failing to pay for parking are promptly issued with Parking Charge Notices (PCNs). Since the ANPR system was installed, there has been a noticeable decline in rule violations by parkers, demonstrating its effectiveness in deterring unauthorised parking.
